Have you ever wondered its real meaning ?

After getting troubles with a brand new laptop powered by the brand new Windows Vista weeks ago, i was seriously thinking about “joining” Apple world.
And i found on a friend’s website the real meaning of Vista.

So V.I.S.T.A = Virus Inside Switch To Apple  !

Dans les dents comme qui dirait l’autre ^_^ (sorry that is a french idiom and I have no idea about an english equivalent ; but word per word you got : “in your teethS” <<< sounds like this it has no sense :p  )

… that is what our current president said back to 1995 during his campain.
I’m leaving the president’s apple to you and i’m getting the following one :p

This post is more a memo to myself ; i lost a weekend to import my billets from Dotclear to WordPress while the entire process might takes 10 minutes ^_^

My config :

• Dotclear 2 Beta 3 (old) (therefore i dunno if it works with a previous version)
• WordPress 2.0.5 (new)

In Dotclear :

• In the admin tool, export your database ; you might obtain a default-backup.txt file.
• Open the file with Wordpad and check that the file starts by ///DOTCLEAR …..
  If not, delete all characters before ///DOTCLEAR. Then save it.

It is done with Dotclear.

In WordPress :

Once WordPress is installed properly, DO NOT DELETE anything ; keep WordPress brand new (do not ask me how ; i followed a tuto ^_^ ).

• save flatimport.txt into your local hdd.
• rename flatimport.txt to flatimport.php then save it in wp-admin/import directory thru a FTP soft (such as CuteFTP, …)
• take the default-backup.txt file and rename it to blog-backup.txt and save it into /wp-content/uploads directory.
• in WordPress admin tool, click Import tab >> select Dotclear flat import >> click Import and Wait till the job is done.

You have done it !

Have you ever had any troubles with your bookmark or favorites folder ?

I mean, while you are at work i’m pretty sure for any reason, it already happened to you to : “God !! I can’t find the website ; it’s been bookmarked in my home computer !”

Or even at home. Laptop in a hand and the desktop machine in the other hand.
2 machines mean 1 favorites folder in each computer. Sometimes you want to reach a page but you can’t because it is not bookmarked in the one you are using and vice versa.

Last example. In the same machine, you are using both Internet Explorer and Firefox. Personnaly, I still use Explorer more often because all my bookmarks are here. I mean if you add a new bookmark, it will be add in one and not the other :/

If you are a MSN Messenger user, have you ever wanted to take away those useless tabs on the left of the window ?

I’m a MSN Messenger user for years and never found a “visible” option to take it away.
Yep, Microsoft decided to “hide” the option ! How silly lol

I have finally adpoted Firefox from the Mozilla foundation this weekend. No more Internet Explorer from Micro$oft.
My advice : Firefox rocks ! haha
Try it and you will adopt it !!

Yeah, it far to be new but for no reason, I haven’t installed it yet in my laptop but it is been a year that it is available in my desktop but I barely use it (the desktop )

The fancy ++ about firefox ?

• I have no idea but I like those “tab page” in the same window. Instead of having a huge numbers of IE windows open, you have one page with a couple of “tab pages” in the same and unique window.
• to save a picture, simply drag and drop the picture in the folder of your choice. No more right click >> “save picture as …” >>> select your folder !
• …. (still need to discover it ^_^ )

ONE MORE reason to use Firefox : No more bug when you are in my blog :p
I have no idea why but with Internet Explorer, the menu frame (calendar, various link menu, …..) on the right is ….. far far away in the bottom of my page :/

What damned is that ?

Maybe you know or have heard that in France we have since 1993 a law which is called “Loi Toubon” (from the same politician’s name).
Basically that law is indirectly an “anglophobe” law. In our everyday life, it was kinda common to use english in advertising, language, text books, …….. So to protect the french language, Toubon’s Law, like I said, forbids (but tolerated ; it depends) foreign language in any media destinated to the public (people like you and me ).

So for example, we are “not allowed” to say “hot dogs” but “chien chaud” (which means “hot dogs” ). E-mail became “courriel” (a mix from “courrier” and “e-mail” (phonetique) ) haha Spam >>> Pourriel (from “poubelle” (garbage) and e-mail) haha again

And since yesterday, in the Journal Officiel (litteraly “Official Newspaper” ; it is a daily newspaper where all new law are adopted / changed or whatever), Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity) became ASFI : Acces Sans Fil a Internet !! = (Wireless Internet Access)

Now, after reading this, if you know what Wi-Fi is, you should be laughing right now, ugh ? :D
It is like renamed “portable MP3 players” to “pocket HDD” ^_^

This billet just to say that people who made laws are ……………. since you keep reading me, ……… i guess you know my point of view ugh ? lol

Long time no see

I have no idea if this is a fake or not but it is very impressive.

I saw a mini mac a couple of days ago in a mall.
I’m thinking to sell my IBM T40p laptop since I do not need a laptop anymore.
My laptop is deadly settled in my bed connected 24/24 to the Internet.
Yeah, that is the reason why anytime you sent me a message through Yahoo messenger or Hotmail messenger, I often do not respond. Sowwyy ^_^

I don’t know. IBM laptop work really well though.
Those past months, I can count on one hand’s fingers all the time I had restarted it. Maybe a little bit more because of some softwares update
The unique blue screen I had since I own this IBM (more than a year now) was a week ago while I was installing Real Player <<< /split ! So the one who said that Window$ sucks and is not stable …… it is not totally true ;-) ; if it is slow down, I just have to end IE task and start it again ; then everything is back to the normal. Maybe OSX from the Apple never slow down ? If so never mind I didn’t had the opportunity to use for a long time Apple OS (or I did a couple of years ago but I didn’t really enjoy the experience)

And lately, since I hear “Mac this, Mac that” around me, maybe I’ll jump and try something new again (”I can hear the fly flies” :D That is a private joke lol ; at least only 2 people will be able to understand that :D).
All I need is a system being able to stay 24/24 on the internet, to check email, to surf and to watch my …. doramas :). And I guess, for that use, the mini mac should be perfect. Not to big, bluetooth keyboard and mouse (no more wires :love:) and I’ll be able to fix a LCD screen above my pillow
But in the other hand I think it is kinda ugly. I don’t like much that tiny square white box. People talks about “design” ; all I can see is that it looks like the small money-box that my dad built to me and my siter with a post-office package when we were 5 years old :D. Just a box with a slot

I’m still undecided.

I tried Blogger for a couple of days and didn’t really appreciated it plus I couldn’t have my own address Then I tried SPIP for another couple of days but for the novice I am, it looked not really convenient to use. So now, Christ’ blog is powered but Dotclear and it seems quite easy to use.

But still have to fix few detais such as hide or delete “Syndication” in the right menu possible ?) Change into color links to other pages. Add a “sign in” button in the main page. A way to modify a theme ? …..

If you have any tips, “send a message” is your friend

Oh, the font used in Dotclear’s forum is sooo huge :-/
