Lately, i have been thinking about a logo for a personal project. And i couldn’t stop thinking about this one :

carrefour3.gif

It is Carrefour’s logo.
(never heard about Carrefour ? it is the second “far” behind WallMart).
I grew up with Carrefour  but for more  than 2 decades, for me, it was just 1 simple arrow and one advanced arrow pointing in 2 opposite sides !

So what do you thing ? What do you see ?
Still 2 simple arrows ? ;)
(Click on “read more” below for the answer and then you are gonna say : “how could i be so dump to not have not noticed it earlier ! :p )

Despite its age, it is b-r-i-l-l-i-a-n-t !! Still wondering how it is gonna be re-newed. No doubt that it is still be the same for a long time.

By the way, it doesn’t really help me to think about my own.

It is quite unrealistic and unbelievable !

Somehow at the end of 2006, RTBF (a national TV channel of Belgium) did a quite silly joke/hoax on air.
Special edition for a special break news, famous tv journalist, specials guests made the joke more realistic and credible.
The joke was :
“Belgium as known is over. Flandre claims its independance”
(to make think easier, Flandre in a hand with Dutch speaking and Wallonne in the other hand with french speaking. Brussel, an enclave, could be the “third hand” speaking both languages. It also has a fourth area at the east with a minority of german speaking).

You can easily imagine the people’s reaction. The large audience whatching TV thought it was true haha

Back to the topic.

21 July is to Belgium what 14 july is to France or 4 july to the USA (and 2 september to Vietnam :p )
During a street interview, a journalist asks to the future prime minister to hum the national anthem of Belgium.
He sang the … La Marseillaise, the national french anthem !

At first some said it was supposed to be humour because the future prime minister is flemish (the dutch area) but he did his mea culpa and admitted his mistake.

What a mistake ! haha

People from Belgium, I assume you have your Bush :D

And if you have notion in french, in the video above, except being their national day, belgian politicians do not even know exactly what is the meaning of their 21 July ! :/

It is taken place somehow in a city in France named Saint Etienne. In the roof of the University of the city to be more accurate.

Click on the picture below to check out what is in the roof of the university :p

After 666, we are gonna have a 777 tomorrow. And 888 in a year and 999 the year after. Woaaaaa ^_^
The weird thing ? By writing this post, i have just realized that Kelem, my doggy bear, died on 333. How couldn’t i noticed it earlier ? :??:

So here is your first vietnamese lesson : how to say week days.

In most languages, each day refers to either a planet or a Divinity/God ; it is well known that sunday is Lord/God’s day.
But in vietnamese, no planet, no God at all ; sunday is said : Master’s day :D

What about the rest of the week ?

Monday is said : Thứ hai ; once translated, it means : the second.
Ok, you might ask me : “Monday is the first but how come does it call the second ?”

(Do i bother you with question ? ) :p

To be honest, my vietnamese knowledge is not high enough to really explain why. But all I know is, in vietnamese, we do not use the suffix “first” to name the first. Haha how confusing ugh ? :p

For instance, to make it easier ; the elder in a family is not called “the first” but “the second”. Therefore the second is called the third. Ecetera ….. hehe
Another example. In vietnamese, to name someone, you do not necessary have to call one by his/her given name. And depending on his/her rank in the family ladder, you can call your uncle/aunt by : uncle 2 ; uncle 5 ; aunt 4 ; …… )
According to this rule, Napoleon Bonaparte should never be named Napolen 1st :p

Back to our Lesson :p

Monday = Thứ hai (the second)
Tuesday = Thứ ba (the third)
Wednesday = Thứ tư (the fourth)
Thursday = Thứ năm (the fith)
Friday = Thứ sáu (the sixth)
Saturday = Thứ bảy (the seventh) (and you might got the point of this billet now ;) )
Sunday = Chủ nhật ; it could have been the eighth but nope. It is the Master’s day like said above (still wondering where it comes from)

So most countries will have a 777 day while vietnamese people will have a 7777 day !

Just curious to know if pregnancy women with a month “to go” will force to give birth in 7777 in the Golden Pig year !

PS : come again for the pronounciation :p
