Movies No Comments »It is been a long time but here is korean movie by Kim Ki-Duk (The Bow, …).

(I’m still not familiar with korean name :p so i’ll named both main characters by “He” and “She” ; how original :p )
He, let’s say, is about 20/25 years old and during his day, on his bike, he goes door to door and sticks on each an add.
Later in the day at sunset, if the add is away, it means that the owner of the house/appartment is home. If the add is still there, the owner might be away at least for the day/night. In such case, He welcomes himself in.
She is married to a man. Unfortunately, She is also her husband’s punchball.
That day, He gets irruption in She’s house and thought that the place was empty. She was here but He didn’t noticed her at all till the night. She spied He all day long and catched him in the most “inappropriate time” ! hahaha (watch by yourself ^_^ ).
At first He ran away but came back ….. the beginning of He and She’s relationship.

:Le Parisien:
Tea Time No Comments »In Paris, we have a daily paper called : Le Parisien (parisian ; like in NYC it could be called “the New Yorker” or whatever).
The following video is an add for the paper.
What is it about ?
A japanese couple in Paris asking to a parisian the direction to the Eiffel Tower.
All you have to know is :
- the japanese couple : excuse me, the eiffel tower ?
- the parisian : pardon ?
- the japanese couple : eif-fel to-wer
- the parisian : i don’t understand
- the japanese couple : (showing their book guide)
- the parisian : ah eiffel tower ? that way
Watch and ….. “enjoy” ^_^
At the end of the add, the catchphrase says : “parisian ? Better have it as a paper“
I love those adds lol ; i’ll try to find some others ^_^

General No Comments »Remember ? I’m from France :p
Otherwise i should have said : 911
Where I was on Sept. 11, 2001 ?
Sept. 09, i was on a flight to Saigon ; my first time since … 1992.
I trod Vietnamese soil on Sept. 10.
Day off on Sept. 11 because of jetlags. Then the day after, Sept. 12, i grabbed by curiosity a vietnamese papers and saw on it the World Trade Center in fire. In that time, i couldn’t even decipher what it was said. I could guess though that some airplanes hit both towers.
Few hours later, visiting my uncle, the only one who could speak english told me : “WTC collapsed”
“hmmmm …… what do you mean by collapsed ? I know that airplanes hit the Twin Towers but do you mean that the top of each towers are destroyed ?”
“No, they really collapsed ; they disappeared ; they are gone ; no more Twin Towers !”
My journey was supposed to be a week long and i didn’t meant to get online during that week. But i asked to get a ride to the closest “internet cafe”.
“No way !! They are really gone !! Unbelievable.”
Except the fact that it was a terrible day, on 119 (or 911 :p ), one of my dream collapsed too. Let you guess which one. (here is a tip : “i have never been to NYC yet” )
(Another which will be a dream forever : Paris - NYC within 3 hours
)

:Print and pin pictures:
Photo No Comments »So i finally started to print some pictures this weekend.
What the F… !!
I realized how trouble it is to print pictures !
Until now, i barely print pictures. Or anytime i did it, it was :
- open photoshop
- resize the picture
- automatic level / contrast / color
- print
I guess all those time i didn’t really paid attention about the color of the final printed picture.
Lately this weekend, i finally realized that the picture in the screen and the one printed are not even ! Different colorimetry ! The picture on the screen is “perfect” (i mean as the way you want it to be) but once it is printed, it is either redder, bluer or greener !
Therefore, your screen as well as your printer have to be calibrated by using some profiles.
Honestly, i still don’t know how all of this works. I tried but what a pain !
I have finally “calibrated” my screen with reference to my printer ! Which mean, i printed a picture and “played” with my screen to have the same tone than the printed picture.
I assume i have to get one of those tools to accurately calibrate my screen.
I also realized that my 7 years old Epson Stylus Photo 750 is a bit “out of age” ![]()
:Natascha Kampusch:
News No Comments »Lately, you might have heard her name on your local papers, radios and TVs.
Natascha (from Austria) had been kidnapped when shen was 10 years old on the way to go to school early in the morning at the end of the 90′.
Mid august, she shown up 8 years after.
Her story is completely amazing.
Being a parent the day she disapeared and the day she shown up after all that time, ….
However there is something i do not like in all of this : make “business” with her interviews !
Ok she makes interviews and medias said that all the money will allow her to start her life again and to pay her studies fees, ….
I mean, why her interviews have to be sold to the worldwide medias for a million ? Is a million too much for the government ? O_o
But with a such story, isn’t the government’s duty to help and take Natascha in charge ? :-/
By the way, Natascha’s story reminds me the movie The Bow from the korean director Kim Ki Duk.
In the movie, the 16 years old girl lives for 10 years in a boat in the middle of the sea with her “grandfather” ; at least she is being kept away from the “outside” world.
And both characters have a really weird relationship !
:Long Hai beach, Vietnam:
Photo No Comments »It is been a long time since i haven’t posted any pictures in here ^_^
Two pictures taken at Long Hai beach in Vietnam in july 2006.
Both pictures don’t really have their own stories ; i just stood in the beach and looked around.
The first, the lady selling alive crabs, shrimps and shells stands there as those “beach umbrellas” ; i thought it was pretty neat. Plus I moved to get a point a view where the lady became the third point of the isoscele triangle.
The second.
It was the end of the afternoon. The sea was blue and the sunlight made the beach a bit orange.
Then that lady stood up wearing an orange “bikini” ; yeah, it doesn’t look like a bikini but believe me, in vietnamese beaches, we barely see any women’s skin lol ; ladys do not like to get tan therefore they wear tshirt all day long :p
(I finally realized also how shooting in raw + Nikon Capture were powerfull )
:No more border:
Journey No Comments »Since my “first” trip in Saigon, Vietnam, in 2001, each year the city looks “different”.
Year after year, no more cyclos or just a few.
In 2004, ATM poped downtown and just a few vietnamese people had a “debit card”. In 2006, ATM are everywhere (almost), and more and more vietnamese withdraw money from those ATM.
In 2005, i remember that “cyclo truck” carrying earth were still used. In 2006, they comletely disapeared. It was always painful watching any of those guys pedaling their “cyclo truck” with a huge charge under a heavy heat !
……
This year one of the most amazing building site was “the border” between the first and fourth district.
Here is a map to give you an idea.

(map from vietnamtourist.com)
The Bridge is down and no more water left ; the city has drained one of the Saigon River’s arm !
