Yep i had hesitated a long time before to finally got what was available since May 2004 ! lol

What finally made me got a D70s instead of a D200 ?
Almost a 1000€ difference between both models ! lol
The D200 is surely well made with its magnesium frame to compare to the D70s but for my use, i don’t care a bit.
IMO the D70s is really well done finished. Its plastic made doesn’t look like cheap as the Canon Rebel 350.

So i’m fully satisfied with this D-SLR. I guess i’ll use this one for years until a full frame sensor will be affordable. Currently, the “cheapest” is the Canon 5D (around 3000 usd ouch ! ^_^ )
Plus in the everyday life, the Nikon D70s is as good as my old Nikon F90X (imo). So i don’t ask more.
The only con i could made to the D70s : the viewfinder is a bit tiny to compare to the F90x.

My package is finally composed of :

  • Nikon D70s
  • 1 battery (since i got it in march, i charged the battery only once ! i did almost 900 pictures and the “battery life” is still max ! I assume it will drop all of a sudden …. maybe)
  • Nikkor AF 50mm f/1.8 (equal to a 75mm on the D70s) Great for portrait ; ON SALE ; I NEED THE F/1.4D !
  • Nikkor AF 35mm F/2D (equal to a 52.5mm on the D70s) The one i got lately since i’m a “pro” 50mm since always !
  • Nikkor AF 28-200mm F/3.5-5.6 (equal to a 42-300 on the D70s) I didn’t like it a lot but later this week it is the one i mostly used :-/
  • Compact Flash Transcend 1Go
  • Compact Flash Sandisk Extrem II 512Mo
  • Archos Gmini 420 to store the pictures while i’m away.
  • Sony DSC-F88 as a point and shoot ; the best concept ever !
  • Lowepro SlingShot 100 AW bag

And if you are wondering ; YEP i learn to enjoy to take colored pictures lol ; till then my F90x was only feed with Kodak Tmax 400 or TriX (black and white film)
