:How to loose the warranty of your mini iPod:
Gimmick February 26th, 2006Here is a tutorial step-by-step “how to loose the warranty of your mini iPod” lol
Personnaly, i wanted to open it to remove the 4Go Hitachi microdrive.
Why ? Many digital SLR cameras support microdrive. And planning to get a DSLR soon, i just wanted to make sure if the mini iPod’s microdrive could be used with a DSLR.
First remove the white cap. Use a thin flat screwer. Be careful to not scratch the border of the iPod.
The white cap is simply sellotaped.
Then removed 2 screws as marked above.

Remove the bottom cap ; proceed as previously.
Be careful, contrary to the top cap, there are some pins (clip) in the back of the bottom cap. (blue rounded in the picture ; a little bit and i broke one :p )
Once it is done, use a tiny round screwer. Insert the screwer in the little hole as marked in the picture above and pull out the metal frame.
Unplug the connector
Pull out as shown.
Front

Back.
If you simply looking for changing the battery, remove it (in blue in the picture) and replace it by your spare.
Keep reading if you want to remove the microdrive.
remove the black selloplate.
Once it is done, remove the antishock (
) system (blue part)
And if the help of a thin flat screwer, unplug the microdrive connector.
GG ! you have done it !
What is next ?
If you counted to use the microdrive in your DSLR to extend your camera memory, ….. it won’t work hahaha
As silly as i am, i forgot to ask “my best friend” (Google) first O_o
lol
If you think i’m responsible for the lost of your warranty, … like Governator might says, you would talk to my hand first ^_^
Ps : thanks my brother’s iPod ; yep it is not mine lol. I’ll never get any by the way and i don’t like iTunes ! :vomit:
