:My Sassy Girl:
Movies September 22nd, 2005From the same director than Windstruck and The Classic.
Actualy, My Sassy Girl is Kwak Jae-Yong’s first movie.

A night, on his way to visit his aunt, “he” (sorry but i’m not familiar with korean names yet
) met “her” on the train station platorm and saved her life. She was completely drunk and wanted to kill herself.
That night he didn’t left her by herself but he took care of her. Hold her on his back, found a hotel room, … and got tons of troubles because of her.
The movie is divided in 3 parts.
-Meet and learn to know each others ; that is the part where you want to kick her ass a bunch of time lol
-I love you, I love you not ![]()
-I love you but ….. haha
During those 3 parts, you will enjoy romance, drama, action movie, “sword” movie, …….
In the movie, she is also an amateur writer. She wrotes short stories.
Those short stories will be used as interludes ; or kind of.
Day after day, he is gonna like … love her but both are so different. She is cute and he “is not awesome” (lol) ; she looks clever and he looks idiot (re-lol) ; she is a pest and he is wise
“manipler” VS “sheeped” <<<< I have no idea if it means something ^_^
Whatever he says, she replies by : “Wanna die !!” and is ready to beat him lol << It reminds me something : “Muon bi dap hong ?” = “Wanna be beat ?” in vietnamese <<< private joke ^_^ ; by the way, i have pronounced it and heard it sooooo much
Actually My Sassy girl was my first korean movie a year ago in Vietnam.
I have to admit it ; i didn’t like it that much the first time for a stupid reason.
While I was watching the movie, I still had in mind : “it is a Korean movie”.
For me, i thought Korean productions = huge melo-drama as chinese serie ; some were on-aired on vietnamese television ; the dubbing was and is still awful and it seemed like they do not worth to be watched or to waste time to watch it.
Hehehe I was totally wrong !
Since a year, i have watched over a hundred of korean movies and still have hundred and hundred waiting to be watched :p
My Sassy Girl is definitely a GREAT movie. More I watch it, more I enjoy it.
Number one in the Korean, Japanese, ….. in south east asia box office.
Long long time i haven’t seen a “such” movie. If someday I’ll be able to ……………….. NEVERMIND lol
It worked so well than Hollywood (Dreamworks) bought the right for both North America and European markets (except France’s market ! Don’t ask me why hehe but lucky us, we have our own DVD !).
It means that the genuine movie will never come out in those countries (!!) because Dreamwork planned to make a remake of My Sassy Girl starring Scarlett Johansson (The Horse whisperer, Lost in Translation, …).
I’m the first to support Scarlett ; she was 14 and was amazing in The Horse Whisperer with Robert Redford and I like her a lot in Lost in Translation but in a movie such as My Sassy Girl, I don’t thing she will be able to make the job !
And with Dreamworks’ powerfull mass media department, they are gonna make the audience think that the genuine one is finally a remake and their own remake is the genuine one
Here is some screens from the first part of the movie :

Him …

… and her first meeting.

just after he saved her.

Her (yep, you will notice that she is un-named ^_^ )

Her face when she behaves weirdly

Not leave her …

… leave her …

… leave her not lol

Him healing her

Her “short movie” : Terminator or Demolition Man or whatever ; watch Windstruck and you will have a thought to this scene.

Another short movie ; the scene will be used in director’s next movie : The Classic

Bare time where she looks nice to him ; do you think she is gonna hug him ?

Her face when she is beating him lol

Seriously, can you imagine a second Scarlett Johansson with a such face ? I doubt O_o

Ready to beat him again lol

“sword movie” interlude

The ending picture.
Last word about the movie.
The genuine story was written by a korean teenager. He was in love with a girl or so and he wrote his stories in a board on the internet.
Number of readers grew up and became passionnated to his stories. Then a book came out and became a best seller.
That is how the director heard about the original story.
